Most of our designs begin with something we have spotted and liked the look of. An old document, a painted fragment, a piece of cloth, or sometimes simply a colour combination worth pursuing. From there, things are drawn, adjusted and coloured until they feel right, which usually takes a little time and a fair amount of changing one’s mind.

We use digital printing, which allows us to work accurately, produce only what is actually needed and avoid the great quantities of waste and water that more traditional printing methods can involve. Because everything is printed to order, very little is wasted and nothing sits forgotten in warehouses waiting to be used.

Everything can also be checked properly before it leaves the Mill. Colours, scale and quality are all reviewed carefully, which means fewer surprises later on, and generally a better result.

We have always preferred making things that last. Fabrics and wallpapers with enough character to settle comfortably into a room and stay there happily for years.
