Interior designer, pattern enthusiast and near neighbour, Sean Symington knows a thing or two about using prints. The Canadian-born designer, now happily settled between Bath and the Cotswolds, has made a name for himself with classic country interiors on both sides of the Atlantic. Each one is full of effortless whimsy and comfort, a trickier balance than it sounds.
We’ve gathered his favourite picks from our collections, so you can see how he puts them to work in his projects.
“Lewis & Wood has always been a staple for me. There’s something about the designs, they just work, in any setting, and keep you coming back.”

The Chosen Designs
We're particularly interested in not simply which prints he chose, but why he uses them, and how differently they behave from one room to the next.
WINDRUSH
“Windrush has a real playfulness to it but still feels traditional and timeless. It works just as well in a children’s room as it does in a snug, it’s incredibly versatile.”

TRIBAL
“I’ve used this contemporary linen print in media rooms, studies and living spaces. The Delta Ash colourway is a particular favourite of mine for a more tonal scheme.”

BENAKI
“Benaki is one of my favourite prints. It works in almost every scheme because of its scale, and it’s great for layering with florals and chintz.”
